Volunteer at Dreadwood Haunted Forest
Ignite your passion for Halloween and join the Dreadwood Volunteers this season!
- Volunteer for one night or all eight
- Volunteer individually or with a group
- You can even sign up after the season starts
All the creative elements you love about Halloween can be found within Dreadwood Haunted Forest.
As a walk-through haunted trail, Dreadwood Forest breaks down boundaries between the audience and the performer in a unique way. We welcome volunteers that are actively involved in theater and looking to take their character expression to the next level, but we also welcome those who just love to scare in the spirit of Halloween. The nature of our Haunt makes us fun for all levels of experience.
Not interested in scaring? We are also looking for people to be part of our community by helping with make-up, guiding, parking and security.

"I hate haunted houses, things that jump out at you, and bumps in the night. But I was persuaded to help one year and thought I could park cars. I was put to work greeting people and had so much fun I returned every night after that. This will be my 7 season helping to scare people. I still hate haunted houses and things that go bump in the night, but I'm so glad I gave into my fears to join this fabulous group!"
"I liked working as a Scary Girl because it was fun putting ice cream in my hair and getting all dirty."
"I was a witch. My job was to throw flammables into the fire. You can't go wrong with organic pyrotechnics! "
"My wife and I volunteered the first year and had a blast. I volunteered again last year. We have to take this year off since my wife is due in October with our first child, but I want to come back next year for sure."
"I have volunteered every year and will be there again this year. I look forward to it all year long and count down the days until I can get back out in the woods to scare again."
"As a guide I pull groups of people through the woods, even if our guests aren't screaming I can feel them tense up on the rope. I also like being a guide because it's not really my job to scare people, that's the monster's job, I just get to laugh at people when they start crying and pee their pants."
"You never know how awesome it feels to make someone scream so loud they scare the group behind them."
"From the moment you check in, to the moment you check out, you feel like you've adopted another family with fellow haunters. You make new friends, and it's by far one of the best volunteer experiences you could imagine."

"I volunteered the first time to help a friend out. I keep going back because it's crazy fun, and I've met a lot of wonderful people. Now I can't imagine not being part of this crazy back woods family."
